Criteria for becoming a fellow of the
Association of Emergency Medicine Educators (AEME)

To become a fellow of the Association of Emergency Medicine Educators (FAEME), individuals typically need to meet rigorous criteria that demonstrate their commitment to Emergency Medicine education and their contributions to the field of Emergency Medicine.

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Membership of AEME is required.
  2. After receiving post-graduation certification in internal medicine, anesthesiology, general surgery, orthopedics, and respiratory medicine from the NMC or NBE, candidates must have at least 5 years of experience in emergency medicine.
  3. Two years of experience after postgraduation is required for MD/DNB emergency medicine training.
  4. MRCEM/FRCEM -certified doctors are required to have 5 years of experience after registering with GMC.
  5. Substantial contribution to the creation, guidance, or research in emergency medicine.
  6. Contribution to AEME through scientific or organizational work. They must have demonstrated excellence in teaching emergency medicine to medical students, Postgraduates, Nurses, EMTs, and other healthcare professionals.
  7. Evidence of ongoing commitment to teaching, including participation in educational activities and programs conducted by AEME.

Point System Criteria for Assessment

5 points for each of the following and need to get 25 points for a successful fellowship application.

  1. Qualification: MD/DNB in Emergency Medicine or MRCEM.
  2. Experience in Emergency Medicine: Three years of active involvement in EM (exclusive of post graduate training).
  3. Publications: Publication of scientific articles or reference materials in recognized journals or books.
  4. Honours/Awards: Recognition for contributions to the field of Emergency Medicine.
  5. Research Work: Active involvement in research related to Emergency Medicine.
  6. Contribution to AEME: Active involvement in AEME activities or membership of national AEME committees.
  7. CME & Conference Organized by AEME: Participation in AEME-organized events.
  8. Community Service: Active involvement in community service related to Emergency Medicine.
  9.  Examiner for or involvement in test development or administration for the MD or DNB Emergency Medicine exams.

Application Process

The Fellowship form should be proposed and seconded by a life member of AEME.

  • Completion of the official application form with required documentation.
  • Submission of a non-refundable application fee of Rs.5000.
  • Documentation of fulfilling the requirements and demonstrating evidence of high professional standing.

Recognition of Election to Fellow Status

  • Members who are approved for Fellow status can start using the FAEME designation.
  • New Fellows approved by December 15 will be officially acknowledged at the following AEMECON 2025. All newly elected FAEMEs will receive an official Fellow certificate and medallion.
  • The Board of Directors of AEME will determine election procedures, fees, and reasons for termination of fellowship status.
